"description": "People with diabetes across the United States are still struggling to afford the insulin they need to survive. Despite recent progress, too many people are rationing insulin, going without, or facing impossible tradeoffs between their health and basic needs. The INSULIN Act is an important step forward. By expanding the $35 copay cap to people with private insurance and including provisions for those who are uninsured (including a hotline and website to support people access patient assistance programs), this legislation has the potential to reach people who have been left out of existing protections. The INSULIN Act is the first federal bill with broad bipartisan support to have a clear plan to truly address the needs of people living with diabetes without insurance. This legislation also supports biosimilar competition which can lower prices of insulin long-term, requires Pharmacy Benefit Managers to pass on 100% of the rebates back to the insurance plan which can lower premiums and costs, and it expands access to free or reduce-cost insulin and other drugs at Federally Qualified Health Center pharmacies through a ten-state five-year pilot project. While there are ways that the bill can be improved, there are many reasons T1International's Federal Working Group endorsed the INSULIN Act and encourages you to take action. As someone who cares about the diabetes community, your voice matters. Members of Congress need to hear directly from their constituents from people impacted by high insulin costs and gaps in access.",
