"description": "ICE is waging war on cities across the country—from Minneapolis, to Portland, to Los Angeles In the last week in Minnesota, we saw the agency terrorize Black and Brown Minnesotans, commit another street execution, kidnap and detain a five-year old, and arrest organizers and a journalist for their participation in a nonviolent protest. No city is safe from this overreach, and Americans all across the country are losing healthcare, nutrition benefits, and other life-saving supports to pay for it. But the multi-racial working-class majority of the United States is taking to the streets in protest. People around the country are furious, terrified, and motivated, and our numbers are only growing. All of this will come to a head this week with a funding battle that will determine whether we continue to reward and incentivize this lawless, rogue agency or not. The House of Representatives voted for a budget last week that would give ten billion dollars for ICE. Now all eyes are on the Senate, which will vote this Friday, January 30th. The budget can't pass without 60 votes. That means it needs 10 votes from Democratic Senators to pass—and Senator Majority Leader Schumer is saying they will not get those votes. We need all of our elected federal officials, in the Senate and in the House—which will have to come to the table to vote on a new proposal if the Senate doesn’t rubber stamp the original—to stand strong against this fascist budget. And we need the leader of the Democrats in the Senate, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, to prevent 10 Democrats from voting yes.",
