"description": "We need to fight to prevent homelessness by supporting low income tenants at risk for eviction in Seattle! As the Seattle City Council is reviewing the 2026 Budget we are advocating for homelessness prevention dollars and need you to share your voice! Housing advocates are asking that the City of Seattle allocate an additional $10 million dollars to be added to the Human Services Department budget for tenant-based rent assistance targeted to non-profit providers in the Office of Housing’s (OH) portfolio. Currently the existing rent assistance funding in the 2026 budget is $11.4 million allocated to support low income tenants. This additional $10 million request would increase the total allocation in 2026 to $21.4 million, with the additional $10 million targeted to low-income tenants with rent arrears living in non-profit owned affordable housing in OH’s portfolio. To advocate for this additional $10 million on rent assistance to keep fellow Seattleites, please email the Seattle City Council today!",
