"description": "The Supreme Court has failed to uphold its precedent and allowed Texas to ignore the fundamental rights of women. We are calling on President Biden and Vice President Harris to support an act of Congress to expand and balance the Supreme Court. The power to appoint justices to the Supreme Court belongs with the President -- but as we saw when Justice Scalia passed away during President Obama's term of office, partisan politics can subvert this provision of the Constitution and pack the Court with ideologues. As a result, the Court has become more and more male in recent decades and could even revert to the days of an all-male Supreme Court. We call on President Biden and Vice President Harris to bring gender balance to the Court. Women must be equally represented in the highest court in the land -- the cost of anything less is that the fundamental rights of women are left undefended. The Biden Administration must work with Congress to create a comprehensive plan to bring gender parity to the Supreme Court, starting with expanding the number of seats on the Court. The Supreme Court can be expanded by an act of Congress but we must act now. Women's Rights are at stake.",
