Doe, the Supreme Court decision that guaranteed the right to a public education for undocumented students. The Heritage Foundation―the creators of Project 2025―has laid out broad policy recommendations for states to adopt with the sole purpose of overturning Plyler. But this push is also coming directly from the White House and congressional Republicans. Trump&#x27;s top immigration advisor Stephen Miller has pressured state lawmakers to pass legislation to only fund public education for children who are citizens or are lawfully present in the U.S., and Republicans held a formal hearing this month aimed at dismantling Plyler. All children deserve a quality public education. The effects of overturning Plyler cannot be overstated. It would upend public education as we know it, and it would strike fear into the hearts of immigrant families and communities nationwide. At the same time, it would be a self-inflicted wound on the U.S. economy.
