"description": "After the immense destruction and suffering wrought by Hurricane Harvey, climate scientists and meteorologists have told us that while global warming didn’t cause this storm, it likely made it worse.  Warmer oceans intensify the winds, and put more moisture into the atmosphere, setting the stage for unprecedented flooding, damage and loss of life.  Unless we take action to stop putting greenhouse gases into our air, storms like Harvey, and now Irma, will only become more frequent and more deadly. In Minnesota, we already get 20% of our electricity from renewable sources already, and we can lead the way towards building a clean and sustainable future.  State Senators Frentz and Housley, and  State Representatives Maye Quade and Schomacker authored a bipartisan bill committing Minnesota to raise that number from 20% to 50% by 2030.  However there has been little progress on the bill since it was introduced in February.  Write to your state representatives and senators and tell them to support this bill as part of the campaign to combat the climate crisis.",
