"description": "Early Intervention works. A recent study of New York’s Early Intervention (EI) program found that children who received EI services were more likely to meet academic standards in the third grade. But to see these lasting benefits, infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities must receive timely evaluations and services. Unfortunately, New York is 48th in the nation in providing timely services – due in large part to low reimbursement rates that are contributing to a shortage of providers. To address these delays and help ensure that infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities receive the evaluations and services they need and are entitled to under law, the State must invest in the EI program. We’re pleased that the Senate and Assembly included increased funding for EI in their proposed budgets, and we’re asking them to keep fighting on behalf of young children with disabilities in the final days of budget negotiations. TAKE ACTION: Early Intervention can only work if children receive their mandated services. Email Governor Hochul and state legislators urging them to include funding for an 8% rate increase for all EI providers in the final FY 2027 budget to help infants and toddlers with developmental delays or disabilities receive the evaluations and services they need.",
