"description": "Dear Friends and Fellow Activists for Justice- The Illinois state government remains “shutdown” pending passage, by a veto proof majority, of a budget to provide the vital funding needed for services and programs all Illinois’ families depend on. Governor Rauner's demands to turn the clock back on workers’ rights and wages are a dead issue-neither a majority of the legislature nor a majority of the voters in Illinois want these so-called “reforms”. Punishing the vulnerable and attacking workers and their hard-earned pensions is not what Illinoisans want. It’s time to move on. Meanwhile, more than 60 programs designed to save lives, from infants to seniors, are not being funded, and haven't been for a year and half. To deny people life-sustaining services while lives and livelihoods hang in the balance is completely unacceptable. Right now, people among the most vulnerable in our population are dying and will die because of our leaders have failed to act. Join us in sending a letter to your Illinois State Representative and State Senator calling on them to pass a fair budget with new revenue in the upcoming November veto session! Visit our website, www.chicagojwj.org, for more information on events and actions coming up near you to demand a" Fair Budget NOW!" Thanks, and In Solidarity, Susan Hurley Chicago Jobs with Justice",
