"description": "Seattle and King County councilmembers are writing their budgets NOW, and making important decisions on how to spend public dollars in the coming years. We need to speak up to make sure they sustain essential housing and shelter that Seattle & King County residents rely on. Our community is at risk of losing up to $66 million in federal Continuum of Care (COC) funds from HUD that pay for permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, rent assistance, and more for thousands of Seattle & King County residents. If we lose even a fraction of that money, people who have housing today could be put out on the street with nowhere else to go. Seattle & King County Councilmembers can help protect our community by prioritizing funding to preserve peoples' housing and shelter BEFORE spending money on new priorities. Join us to demand that Seattle and King County protect people's homes and shelter so that: Nobody who has housing will lose housing because of federal, state, or local budget cuts Nobody who has shelter will lose shelter because of federal, state, or local budget cuts Nobody who lacks shelter or housing will be punished for trying to survive outside Anyone in Seattle or King County can take this action - please share it with others so they can speak up too! P.S. This system sometimes places people in the wrong council district if you live close to the border of your district. If that happens to you, you can email your Seattle councilmembers and your King County Councilmembers directly (and the mayor: bruce.harrell@seattle.gov and King County Executive: kcexec@kingcounty.gov) or reach out to Hali if you need help",
