"description": "FCC Chair Brendan Carr is leading a review that could dramatically weaken E-Rate, the federal program that helps schools and libraries afford high-speed internet and network infrastructure. The FCC is asking whether E-Rate should be limited or sunset and whether existing discounts and eligibility should be narrowed. Those changes would push more internet costs onto public school districts that already face tight budgets and rising expenses. Schools still need broadband every day. Reliable internet is basic infrastructure for instruction, testing, school operations, and the services students and educators depend on. The FCC’s supposed concerns about student screen time do not justify weakening the infrastructure that keeps schools connected. Schools can make responsible decisions about technology use without cutting federal support for broadband. Sign and send a message directly to FCC Chair Brendan Carr telling him to withdraw the harmful E-Rate proposals and protect affordable school connectivity.",
