	"description": "On June 25, the TransLink Board of Directors will be conducting a pivotal vote on the future of HandyDART service in Metro Vancouver. The Board will choose whether to continue contracting out HandyDART to multinational corporations like Transdev (the current operator), or to finally bring this critical service under full public control. The three-week long strike against Transdev last year came about because of the private contractor’s lack of public accountability. A lack of accountability—and corporate profit-seeking— have led to HandyDART’s overreliance on taxis, myriad safety problems, unreliable service quality, and poor working conditions for drivers. Following the strike, the BC NDP committed to bringing HandyDART in-house as part of its campaign platform. Since the election however, we have seen little follow through from Eby’s government on this issue. The future of HandyDART is at stake: unless the TransLink Board votes to fix these problems at their root by bringing HandyDART in-house, service will continue to spiral. Write a letter to Provincial and TransLink decision-makers below, urging them to keep their campaign promise and do the right thing: now is the time to Save Our HandyDART!",
