	"description": "On Tuesday, June 17th, 2025, ICE illegally arrested Brad Lander, the democratically elected Comptroller for the City of New York, who was accompanying an individual at an immigration hearing in 26 Federal Plaza. Several unidentified men stopped them, refused to show any police badges or judicial warrants, and forcibly separated and arrested both the individual and the Comptroller. This is completely illegal and unconstitutional. From our neighbors and coworkers to union leaders and elected representatives, Trump’s fascist ICE force is blatantly and dangerously escalating its egregiously illegal disappearances of our fellow Americans. We call on U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand, Mayor Adams, and all members of Congress to do everything within their power to release the unknown thousands of New Yorkers detained at the Javits Federal Building at 26 Federal Plaza. They have been kidnapped by thugs with guns; ripped from their families and communities; and caged in unsafe, unsanitary, and overcrowded conditions. Send a letter using the tool at right and ask your neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family to do the same. We cannot allow Trump’s ICE to continue acting with impunity. If they can arrest and detain the a New York City elected official, it’s only a matter of time before they come for you.",
