The consequences of period poverty are numerous and far-reaching; a lack of these material basic necessities puts the physical, mental, and economic wellbeing of individuals across the United States at risk, many of whom are forced to use socks or wads of toilet paper in place of the menstrual products they need just to make it through the day. However, in 21 states across the country, period products are still taxed as luxury goods instead of being recognized as material basic necessities. Please join the Alliance for Period Supplies in our work to make these products more accessible and affordable for individuals across the U.S. by urging your elected officials to support legislation that would end the sales tax on menstrual products in your state.
