In part, that’s because Rhode Island responded to the pandemic by instituting key voting access reforms, including expanding access to mail ballots, setting up secure ballot drop boxes, and offering early voting. It’s time to build on the progress we made in 2020 by modernizing our elections, protecting voting rights, and empowering voters like you. That’s why dozens of organizations have partnered in support of the ‘Let RI Vote Act’. This plan: Provides voters with choices about how to cast their ballot, including a permanent mail ballot list, online mail ballot application, and removal of the burdensome requirement for two witnesses or a notary public to vote by mail. Expands early voting with permanent weekend hours in all communities. Improves voter list maintenance and signature verification processes. Joins 21 other states in implementing same-day voter registration, to allow all eligible voters to participate in our democracy. And much more!
