"description": "One Touch Make Ready threatens workers, public safety and destroys good jobs. HB 6442 & SB 4 both include provisions for One Touch Make Ready. CWA cannot support any legislation that includes One Touch Make Ready. For decades, when Frontier equipment must be moved, it's been done by CWA-represented workers, ensuring the safety and quality of the work. One Touch Make Ready mandates that companies (and their approved contractors) that want to put new equipment on utility poles can move existing equipment to make necessary space. The risks of OTMR allowing for unskilled work include: Leaving heavy terminals and wires without proper support Electrocution risks posed by improperly grounded wires Poles falling due to incorrect placement or overloading equipment on damaged or decaying poles It also destroys good jobs by allowing unskilled contractors to do the work that should be done by career employees who know the condition of the equipment and poles and have been professionally trained. These are our jobs! Legislation that takes work away from our members must be defeated. We're calling on our Connecticut State legislators to say NO to One Touch Make Ready! Send an email to your CT State House Rep and Senator.",
