Thrown him into prolonged solitary—conditions the U.N. classifies as torture. Cut off every line of communication—phone, email, even legal calls—after an inspector threatened him for “people on the outside” speaking out. Seized his legal papers and blocked him from deadlines in active court cases. Retaliated for filing a PREA grievance about cross-gender voyeurism while he used the toilet. These acts violate the First Amendment (retaliation for speech), the Eighth Amendment (cruel and unusual punishment), and the Sixth Amendment right to counsel, while twisting the ICC—meant for rehabilitation—into a weapon of political repression. If officials can silence a well-known jailhouse journalist by exporting him to secret isolation, every incarcerated organizer and whistle-blower is at risk.
