"description": "UAW is asking our members to contact Congressional representatives to oppose H.R. 1723, the misleadingly named Tribal Labor Sovereignty Act of 2025. UAW deeply believes in tribal sovereignty and has a strong record in supporting civil rights throughout our history. This bill, however, seeks to overturn National Labor Relations Board precedent in order to attack fundamental collective bargaining rights. It would strip workers in certain commercial enterprises, including UAW members, of rights and protections under the NLRA. In sum, this bill threatens to create a dangerous precedent that could be used to weaken landmark worker and civil rights protections—including minimum wage, OSHA, and ERISA—for all employees on tribal lands. Thank you for taking action in solidarity with our fellow UAW members!",
