"description": "As you are aware S2 has crushed many districts with severe and continuous State Aid cuts over the last six years. In the last two years, big fluctuations in inputs into the funding formula. combined with the 2% cap on spending that has been in place since 2012, districts are slated to undergo massive cuts to staffing and programs. Our low estimate is that there will be well over $100,000,000 in staffing cuts made this year alone throughout these districts. This week, the New Jersey Assembly is scheduled to pass A4161 which will provide both a mechanism for districts to receive some of their state funding losses returned and will provide for flexibility in the 2% cap for districts who have undergone these cuts in funding. We hope the Senate will act with the same level of urgency and expeditiousness with the companion Bill S3081. We were stunned that the Senate Budget Committee did not hear the bill in committee last week. Districts are on the clock with a hard deadline of May 15th when they are required to inform staff of whether they will have future employment with their district. Some Superintendents have already informed staff of these impending cuts. We are asking that today and tomorrow, April 14th and 15th to email Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee members by clicking on the link on the right AND please call the Budget Committee members listed below. Just a few minutes of your time will make a difference. Respectfully ask them to post Senate bill S3081 in the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee for a vote. This bill will help restore the millions that have been cut from school districts over the past six years and lift the 2% tax cap levy.",
