"description": "We are taking the fight to Sonic Healthcare's top 200 investors Send them a letter telling them we will not stand for Sonic Healthcare's bullying behaviour Why is this important? We are the IWGB, a small fighting union in the UK that is currently taking on The Doctors Laboratory and their owners, Sonic Healthcare, a multi-million dollar Australian company. We are calling for solidarity from people in the UK, but also globally, to join us in our battle against Sonic Healthcare, who is seeking to profit from this crisis by pushing workers into poverty. The Doctors Laboratory, a prestigious private pathology company in central London, is seeking to make 10 of their couriers redundant in a month’s time. Having worked throughout the COVID-19 crisis, they are now being chucked on the scrap heap. These couriers have been playing a vital role as key workers by transporting potential COVID-19 samples, putting their own lives at risk. These couriers also led the 2019 industrial action that saw the IWGB win historic pay rises and improvements in the gig economy. These redundancies are a thinly veiled assault on trade unionists. One of these is the Chair of the Couriers and Logistics Branch of the union, who has been extremely high profile in leading the battle against TDL. He has highlighted their exploitative practices on BBC news, Sky news, in the Guardian, on social media and picket line and has fought hard for improvements since 2016, lifting dozens of TDL couriers out of poverty. Recently he has been raising multiple health and safety issues with TDL especially in regard of the company’s lack of PPE. Make no mistake, these unnecessary cuts are a blatant attack on trade union organisers, and the IWGB won't tolerate it. These cuts are wholly unnecessary. Sonic Healthcare CEO, Colin Goldschmidt, takes home a pay packet of over AUS$10 million per year, last year’s company profits were over £28 million, and half of those at risk are eligible for furloughing through the government’s Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme. Workers are not disposable! Trade union victimisation cannot be tolerated! >>> Use this tool to write to Sonic Healthcare's investors >>> When emails are sent to investors they will be able to see your name and postcode.",
