"description": "The Public Health Services for Advancing Care and Creating Efficient Support Systems in Underserved Communities Act (PHS ACCESS Act), would allow U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps Officers to be assigned to the 41 Urban Indian Organizations (UIOs). UIOs serve nearly 3 million Native peoples, representing roughly 70% of the total Native population, including Alaska Natives who live in urban areas. But even as health care is a treaty right, Urban Indian Health Facilities are chronically understaffed. The PHS ACCESS Act would bring skilled and federally funded clinicians and public health professionals to work in Native communities while strengthening coordination across the broader Indian Health System. Click “START WRITING” to send a message to your U.S. senators today, urging immediate passage of this bipartisan legislation that would help deliver quality health care to millions of Native peoples in urban areas.",
