"description": "Some of America’s wildest national forest lands remain free from permanent roads and large-scale industrial development. These roadless forests provide vital habitat for endangered and threatened wildlife, protect clean drinking water, and give animals room to move as habitats change. But these treasured public lands are at risk. The administration is moving to eliminate the Roadless Rule, potentially removing protections from nearly 45 million acres of national forest lands. Without lasting safeguards, intact forests could be opened to new roads, logging, drilling, and other development. Congress can protect these forests by passing the Roadless Area Conservation Act. The Roadless Area Conservation Act (H.R. 3930 in the House and S. 2042 in the Senate), would make existing protections for inventoried roadless areas permanent. If passed, the legislation would provide lasting protection for roadless areas within the National Forest System. Protecting roadless forests helps: ● Preserve large, connected habitats for imperiled wildlife ● Safeguard clean water and important forest headwaters ● Keep carbon stored in mature and intact forests ● Protect opportunities for hiking, hunting, fishing, and outdoor recreation ● Ensure future generations inherit healthy forests rich with wildlife Roadless areas provide habitat for hundreds of endangered, threatened, and at-risk plants and animals. They also connect national parks, wilderness areas, and other protected lands, giving wildlife the space needed to feed, migrate, reproduce, and adapt. Once these forests are fragmented by permanent roads and industrial development, they may never be whole again. We have an opportunity to protect them before that happens. Take action today: Tell your Representative and Senators to cosponsor the Roadless Area Conservation Act",
