"description": "The City's 10-year Capital Plan currently features adaptation and resilience for the effects of climate change, rather than mitigation of the cause, i.e., greenhouse gas emissions. Both must be addressed. At a hearing Wednesday, March 15th at City Hall in room 250, the five members of the Supervisors' Budget & Appropriations Committee will have the opportunity to hear what the Capital Planning Committee and the City Controller are doing to remedy this situation. A major recommendation - from a study by UC Berkeley’s Center for Law, Energy & the Environment (CLEE) which analyzed funding and financing strategies to generate sufficient revenue for San Francisco’s Climate Action Plan - was that the Capital Planning Committee, now updating the City’s 10-year Capital Plan, schedule climate bonds in the bond lineup for the near future. Back in December, thanks to the advocacy of many of you, the Supervisors unanimously passed a non-binding resolution urging the Capital Planning Committee to schedule the bonds. Now let's shine a light on the need for such action. Tell the Capital Planning Committee and the Controller's office that now is the time to incorporate climate bonds in the Capital Planning schedule. Then, if such a revised Capital Plan is approved by the Board of Supervisors in April, the proposed bonds can be put on the ballot and San Franciscans can finally vote for a livable climate. Please write today - or at least by 5pm Tuesday, March 14. Thank you! You can edit and personalize our template, or send as is. Strength in numbers!",
