"description": "Our elected officials need to hear directly from the community and your voice ensures that they hear real experiences and challenges of students and families in Renfrew County. Nearly 11,000 students across the region, from kindergarten to grade 12, have been denied access to school transportation due to deep funding cuts to school bus services. The provincial government’s cuts and changes to the funding formula have resulted in the local school bus operator being unable to afford to run busses in Renfrew County with costs growing over 30 per cent since the Ford Conservatives took power in 2018. The loss of school buses has left parents and families scrambling to drive their kids to school. Families must pay out of pocket for extra gas and many parents and guardians are missing work as they are forced to take time out of their busy day to drive their kids to school. This crisis has disproportionately impacted marginalized students, and schools have already seen a decline in attendance. This is likely to worsen if the crisis is allowed to continue. We ask you to jointly, alongside educators, parents, students and families, to call on the Provincial Government,  to ensure all school boards have sufficient funding for bussing and that going forward, all school transportation funding will be adjusted to meet inflationary costs, starting first with Renfrew County.",
