"description": "People across North Carolina are reaching out to their state senators in Raleigh in opposition to the so-called Election Integrity Act (Senate Bill 326) -- to urge them to oppose a bill that would make voting from home more difficult. The proposed legislation would shorten the window to request an absentee ballot by one week. It would also eliminate the three-day window to accept ballots that were mailed on or before Election Day but arrive to the board of elections after Election Day. That means a voter who follows the rules and mails their ballot prior to Election Day, but for some reason the mail doesn’t get it to the board of elections by Election Day, would have their vote thrown out through no fault of their own. This is a bad bill that has nothing to do with improving elections. Instead, it would impose unnecessary burdens on North Carolina voters. It makes no sense to change laws on absentee voting that have been on the books for years after an election that saw record high voter participation—and a record high number of absentee ballots cast. But we can’t stop this bill without your help -- can you please send a letter to your state senator urging them to oppose Senate Bill 326, the Election Integrity Act?",
