"description": "The State Based Universal Health Care Act will be introduced in the Senate! Senator Ed Markey (D-MA) has confirmed he will introduce the State Based Universal Health Care Act (SBUHCA) into the U.S. Senate. The bill has been carried in the House since 2021 by Rep. Ro Khanna and previously by Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Rep. Jim McDermott. To recap: this bill unlocks the power of the states by enabling them to design and implement statewide universal healthcare systems while accessing federal money from multiple federal healthcare programs. Unlike a similar provision in the Affordable Care Act, the SBUHCA adds regulatory protections and important Medicare and ERISA waivers for a more complete package. We need as many cosponsors as possible! Please use the following form to automatically send a letter to both of your US Senators asking them to be an original cosponsor of the Senate version of the SBUHCA. Then, when you're done - forward this to a friend or organization to spread the word even farther. You may also use this sample email template. What's our deadline? Friday 3/29 at 5 PM EST While we will still be able to push for cosponsorship, the deadline for original cosponsorship will be Friday March 29th at 5pm EST. Original cosponsorship is an opportunity for congressmembers to distinguish themselves as leaders providing special support to a bill as it makes its debut to the rest of Congress, the press, and the public. Don't delay. Take this easy action now and we can lift our demand for Universal Healthcare progress.",
