	"description": "Everyone deserves the right to generate their own electricity, and that includes our country’s farmers and rural businesses. For years, the Rural Energy for America Program has been a popular program for farmers and small rural businesses interested in lowering their electric bills. The program pays for energy efficiency upgrades and new power generation, including solar energy. Here in Appalachia, REAP helped fund over 1,000 projects between 2014 and 2024, and the program has had success nationwide. But now, the U.S. House of Representatives is advancing a new Farm Bill, which would put severe restrictions on farmers’ ability to utilize REAP funding. The restrictions include a limit on the total size of a solar project and a prohibition on where farmers and rural businesses can buy their equipment. &amp;nbsp; The use of farmland for both solar power and crop production is gaining momentum. And at a time when energy prices are soaring, Congress should be making it easier — not harder — for our farmers and rural businesses to generate their own electricity. &amp;nbsp; We need your help telling Congress not to limit farmers’ freedom about how they use their land for energy production!",
