"description": "Santa Clara County is set to get $264 million annually in new public transit investments if the Connect Bay Area transit ballot measure passes in November. This could mean a lot more VTA service, bringing service levels up to par with other parts of the Bay Area. This could also mean VTA funding transit priority upgrades that make buses faster and more reliable, and more safe, comfortable and dignified bus shelters. Right now VTA is creating a local expenditure plan for how these new funds will be spent. Please use this tool to send letters to VTA Board Members urging them to prioritize investments that serve people who depend on transit, increase ridership, improve the cost-effectiveness of the transit system to serve more people per dollar, make progress on climate, and improve affordability for residents at a time of skyrocketing gas prices. We're urging VTA to use at least 80% of new funding to advance: Implementing VTA's Visionary Network to provide a network of frequent service up to par with other parts of the Bay and other parts of the country, and improves paratransit by improving the fixed route service Funding transit priority investments as outlined in VTA’s Speed and Reliability program to make buses and light rail faster and more reliable, more cost-effective, and to move more people for the money.",
