"description": "In the first week of his administration, Donald Trump has begun to implement his Project 2025 agenda. This has meant: Freezing all federal grants, which could affect Medicaid, school meals, housing assistance, and dozens of local Delaware organizations Rolling back of birthright citizenship and blanket immigration raids of Latino communities, detaining and harassing people regardless of their criminal or even their citizenship status Firing pro-labor members of the National Labor Relations Board and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, signaling an attack on workers Attacking LGBTQ+ rights and the ability of millions of people to seek the health care they need These moves are destructive and they are unpopular. Yet we still have no plan in Delaware to defend against these attacks and use our solid Democratic majorities to fully protect and empower working people across the state. We need Delaware to protect our basic rights and needs: Refuse to cooperate with or support expansion of federal immigration raids and detentions Pass a trans refuge bill so that people seeking gender-affirming care will be a sanctuary state for trans people and other gender and sexual minorities Protect organizers, activists, and allies working in their communities and schools to support oppressed and vulnerable people Tax the rich to make sure that we can make up for federal funding Prioritize services for working class and affected Delawareans in the state budget over the interests of capital and corporations Ensure universal free school meals for all students as federal programs are taken away Limit rent increases as federal housing assistance is stripped Protect the right for workers to organize in Delaware Between Delaware’s governor and state legislature, we believe that all of these goals are achievable through executive order and legislation, and can also be supported by school boards, county governments, and municipalities",
