"description": "Woodfibre LNG was issued a cease and desist order because their workers were not being housed properly. So Woodfibre interpreted this as a greenlight to bring their floatel (or floating hotel/cruise shop) to Howe Sound even though the city had not yet approved this to happen. Instead of allowing the city to decide on whether the floatel is a good idea, Woodfibre is ignoring the city, and Eby and his government are allowing this to happen. Woodfibre LNG has been cutting corners throughout the approval process and has failed to provide cumulative impact assessments (both social and environmental) that the city has been asking for. Woodfibre LNG clearly does not care about its workers and the province shows no sign that they will hold the company accountable. Woodfibre LNG has been housing workers in a way that is non-compliant for over six months and instead of taking action against Woodfibre LNG, there are allegations that it is the city's fault for not approving the permit for the company's floatel. It is the company's responsibility to comply with regulations, including regulations for worker safety and housing. Unfortunately, the province has not been doing enough to hold Woodfibre LNG accountable and is essentially allowing them to cut corners to push this project through even though there are other outstanding permits. This is going to have drastic effects on Howe Sound and the Squamish community. Stop pushing through this project through! At a time when we are seeing record-breaking wildfires, it is disappointing to watch the government put in more fossil fuel projects. Stop this project now! Woodfibre LNG does not care about its workers, Squamish, or BC!",
