"description": "Millions of Americans stand to lose their freedom to vote if we fail here >> Starting Tuesday, March 17, Republican senators will speak around the clock on the Senate floor to push through the SAVE America Act — one of the most sweeping rollbacks of voting rights in modern American history. A vote could happen anytime. The window to stop it is closing fast. Experts have been ringing alarm bells at the breathtaking scale of destruction this legislation would inflict on our voting rights: Over 21 million voting-age citizens don't have ready access to a passport or birth certificate; 69 million women have a birth certificate that doesn't match their current legal name – meaning married women could be turned away or forced to jump through additional hoops; Rural voters in the largest counties would face an average 4.5-hour round trip drive to an election office – and in some places, nearly eight hours; Native voters could be blocked entirely, since Tribal IDs often lack the specific information the bill requires; Voters with disabilities. Young voters. Survivors of domestic violence who've changed their names for safety. People who lost their documents in a hurricane or wildfire. All of their voices – our voices – could be blocked from participating in this democracy. The SAVE America Act doesn't solve a real problem. A comprehensive review of Utah's 2.1 million registered voters found exactly one non-citizen registered, and zero evidence of non-citizen voting. What this bill does is rig the electorate – stripping the vote from people with disabilities, young voters, Native voters, survivors of domestic violence, and communities of color. That is not what the American promise is meant to be. When Kansas required documentary proof of citizenship to register to vote, more than 31,000 eligible citizens were disenfranchised – about 12% of the population. The Republican Secretary of State who oversaw implementation of the Kansas law has even personally warned Congress: "Kansas did that 10 years ago… It didn't work out so well." Senators are under enormous pressure from the White House to vote yes. They need to hear from you louder. Write to your Senators today and demand they vote NO on the SAVE America Act – before it's too late.",
