According to New Jersey Policy Perspective, our state would be one of the hardest hit. New Jersey’s wealthiest 1 percent of taxpayers would receive an average $74,000 tax break each year while about 1 in 4 Garden State taxpayers would pay an average of $2,400 more in a year in federal taxes. What makes this plan so bad for New Jersey families is the elimination of the state and local tax deduction. In addition to the above aspects it also: Cuts hundreds of billions of dollars from Medicare and Medicaid, taking funding away from seniors in nursing homes, children and people with disabilities. It also would turn Medicare into a voucher-like program. Cuts more than $1 trillion from education and job training, and likely would lead to cuts in federal employee pensions, food stamps and unemployment benefits that millions of Americans rely on. Paves the way for a massive tax cuts for the rich. An estimated 96% of a planned massive tax cut would go to people making $1 million dollars or more, providing a huge giveaway to the GOP’s rich donors but doing nothing for working people.
