Across the country, corporate landlords and Wall Street investors like Blackstone and JPMorgan are driving up housing costs while millions of our neighbors are being forced into homelessness. A year ago, the Supreme Court made it worse. Their ruling in Grants Pass v. Johnson opened the door to arresting people for just being outside, even when no shelter is available. Since the decision, over 255+ new laws have been introduced to criminalize homelessness. And the budget passed by the House of Representatives would make this crisis worse—cutting billions from housing and homelessness programs and forcing over 9 million more people out of their homes. We need our representatives to fight back. Send a message to your Congressmembers demanding they: - Reject any budget that cuts affordable housing or HUD programs designed to protect renters or people experiencing homelessness. - Support a Homes Guarantee and invest in public and supportive housing at the scale of need. - Sponsor the Housing Not Handcuffs Act to undo the harm of the Supreme Court’s Grants Pass decision and affirm the rights of unhoused people.",
