"description": "Philadelphians won back our Right to Breathe from a century of oil refining in South Philadelphia, and now justice is due. Philly Thrive, a grassroots environmental justice organization, seeks to repair 154 years of the refinery’s violence by achieving a complete clean up of the land. You can help make that happen. We need 500 people to submit comments on the refinery clean up before the public comment period closes on December 26, 2020. For over a year Philly Thrive has been advocating for lawful public involvement in the clean up process that had been carrying on without residents for over 10 years. We have presented clear methods to Evergreen Resources- the company managing the clean up- and the City of Philadelphia for how to support residents to understand 1,000 pages of scientific documents about the contamination. But there comes a time when the public has to take things into our own hands. We have no more time to waste now that the comment period is underway. Use this page to submit a comment on the clean up using what Philly Thrive has learned, and then join us for educational programs as we learn how to teach each other about contamination and restoration of 2% of Philadelphia's land, our air, and our water.",
