The DEFIANCE and Preventing Deepfakes of Intimate Images (PDII) Acts are two bills that will offer resources to survivors of the nonconsensual distribution of explicit AI-generated digital images. These bills offer civil and criminal recourse for survivors to seek justice. The DEFIANCE Act overwhelmingly passed the Senate, but needs its time in the House, and PDII needs a vote in both chambers. Deepfakes have catastrophic impacts on the livelihoods of its victims. From Taylor Swift to 15 year olds in New Jersey, all corners of our community are impacted by this unregulated technology.
