	"description": "On June 25 the Supreme Court ruled in the Monsanto v. Durnell case to strip Americans&#x27; right to sue pesticide companies for failing to warn about toxicity when the EPA hasn&#x27;t mandated a label warning. The decision shields glyphosate, the nation&#x27;s most-used herbicide, from accountability despite decades of research linking it to cancer. MOFGA joined Center for Food Safety&#x27;s brief supporting Durnell and the tens of thousands sickened by exposure. The decision is illogical and dangerous, and puts all U.S. residents at risk. MOFGA is supporting Rep. Pingree&#x27;s new legislation, People over Poison Act, to restore citizens&#x27; right to know, while continuing its commitment to organic, local agriculture and safer alternatives to carcinogenic pesticides. Pingree, a longtime farmer and member of the House Agriculture Committee, successfully removed a liability shield for Big Chemical from the FY2026 Interior and Environment Appropriations bill. After similar language appeared in the draft Farm Bill, Pingree led an amendment during Committee markup to strip the language. Support Rep Pingree in her work by writing to her to say thank you, and let other Congress people that they should support her bill and work.",
