"description": "OSEA Tillamook Chapter 28 represents classified school employees in the Tillamook School District. We are custodians, bus drivers, nutrition staff, educational assistants, secretaries and many other roles that are essential to a functioning school. We are your neighbors – 88% of us live in Tillamook. Our bargaining team started negotiating with the school district in February and have yet to reach an agreement. The district's proposal for our four-year contract would not even keep up with inflation, much less improve the economic circumstances of our members, 81% of whom are eligible for food stamps. Neighboring districts offer wages 12 percent higher, or more, than what Tillamook offers us. We believe the district must offer competitive wages and benefits to retain and hire consistent, high-quality staff so we can be sure our children are receiving the best education possible.",
