"description": "On December 6, Native peoples will gather at the White House for the third Tribal Nations Summit. In a show of our growing strength, President Biden has heeded Indigenous peoples’ call to work to protect Tribal treaty rights and strengthen sovereignty. But he has not gone far enough to live up to his promises. This Summit is a chance for Tribal leaders to follow up on what administrative agencies have been doing, hold Biden accountable for where his administration is falling short, and engage with administration officials about important issues facing our communities. We’re urging the administration to protect Oak Flat, a sacred site in Arizona, from toxic mining; safeguard Chaco Canyon, a cultural landscape in New Mexico that has been ravaged by the oil and gas industry; stop Donlin Gold Mine in Alaska, which would threaten human health by contaminating the region’s lands and headwaters; stop the Dakota Access Pipeline; and restore a free-flowing lower Snake River in the Pacific Northwest to restore salmon populations. Ahead of the Summit, will you send a message to the Biden administration urging them to support Tribal sovereignty, environmental justice, and our right to free prior and informed consent about any project that affects our lands and waters? Click ‘START WRITING’ to take action today.",
