	"description": "The SAVE (“Safeguard American Voter Eligibility”) Act of 2025 is a nationwide voter suppression bill – as are the newly introduced SAVE America Act in the Senate and the new version of the SAVE Act in the House dubbed the Make Elections Great Again Act. These three bills would force Americans to present a passport, birth certificate, or other citizenship papers in order to register to vote in federal elections, and are clearly designed to deter millions of people from casting their ballot in our democracy. If this legislation were to pass, tens of millions of Americans would face major new restrictions on their voter registration as soon as the 2026 midterm elections. We can’t let that happen. We’re watching an administration test how far it can go, including pressuring states to hand over sensitive voter data. In a letter to Minnesota Governor Walz just hours after Alex Pretti was killed, Attorney General Pam Bondi even intimated decisions about ICE deployment could hinge on the state turning over voter rolls and cooperating with federal demands. And these SAVE Act bills are part of the same project: build barriers, create chaos, then claim they have the right to “fix” it by deciding who belongs in our democracy.
