	"description": "The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) recently published a proposed rule - open for public comment - that would have significant negative impacts on the current housing provided to those experiencing chronic homelessness in the state of Indiana. This proposed rule would divert already limited funding away from Permanent Supportive Housing (PSH), which has been shown to be effective in addressing chronic homelessness, toward other approaches. This functionally reduces the money that exists to support those who are experiencing chronic homelessness through an approach that is known to be effective. Additionally, this proposed change fails against any comprehensive review and grounding in effective approaches to justify this shift in funding priorities. There is limited scientific peer reviewed research even cited by HUD to justify this shift, reinforcing that this proposal is unfounded in its claimed “evidence”, which is close to non-existent. &amp;nbsp; Shifting money from a known effective approach places the whole country at potential risk of increased rates of unsheltered homelessness.
