This change will result in a mass layoff of nearly 200 workers, many of whom have dedicated years of service to the airport and the city. Sky Café has not committed to rehiring all of these skilled workers, nor have they committed to prioritizing their applications for new positions. The impact of this decision will be devastating not only to the affected workers and their families but could also be disruptive to Phoenix Sky Harbor’s operations. These workers have specialized experience and knowledge essential to maintaining the high level of service that American Airlines and other carriers expect. We cannot allow Sky Café or Atlantic Street Capital to bypass their responsibility to the workers who have served this airport for years. We must demand that these companies commit to retaining the displaced employees and ensure that their transition does not threaten the stability of the busiest airports in the U.S. And we must demand a strong new worker retention policy at Sky Harbor to prevent these kinds of mass layoffs from hurting working families.",
