"description": "Across the United States, endangered and threatened bats are vanishing. Victims of habitat loss, disease, and reckless rollbacks of the protections that keep them alive. From the Gray Bat and the Florida Bonneted Bat in the Southeast to the Hawaiian Hoary Bat in the Pacific, these night-flying pollinators and insect-eaters are critical to healthy forests, farms, and ecosystems. But right now, Congress is considering bills that would gut the Endangered Species Act (ESA), the very law that has saved threatened and endangered bats from extinction. Without ESA protections, recovery programs would collapse, research would stall, and millions of acres of vital roosting and feeding habitat could be lost. Bats Are on the Brink White-nose syndrome, a deadly fungal disease, has killed more than 6 million bats since 2006. Many species, including the Indiana Bat and Northern Long-Eared Bat, have seen population declines of over 90%. Losing bats means losing natural pest control, pollination, and biodiversity that protect entire ecosystems. This isn’t just about wildlife. It’s about our shared future. Every bat that disappears leaves our skies quieter and our ecosystems weaker. Tell Congress to reject attacks on the Endangered Species Act and fund the programs that keep bats and their habitats alive. [LINK] Bats are irreplaceable. Once they’re gone, they’re gone for good.
