"description": "Silicon Valley's biggest investors and police departments across the country have turned Flock into a totalitarian mass surveillance network.1 Flock's 120,000 automatic license plate reader (ALPR) cameras track people to their jobs, dates, homes, doctor's appointments, places of worship, and everywhere in between. And at least 50 law enforcement officers have been accused of or charged with abusing surveillance data, including 26 cases of officers stalking women.2 There's a growing bipartisan movement to ban Flock and similar ALPR cameras nationwide. Our lawmakers must remove these dangerous, regularly abused spying tools from the over 6,000 communities they operate in. Sign the petition: Tell Congress to ban Flock cameras NOW! Individual police officers are handed the keys to Flock surveillance footage with little oversight or regulation.4 New reports have come out weekly about law enforcement abuse of Flock cameras. ICE is also able to access Flock data, and has used the cameras to hunt people down.5 Lawmakers are introducing a bipartisan bill to withhold funding from police departments and local governments who use ALPR cameras like Flock to mass surveil, stalk, and prey on people. Congress must pass this legislation to protect our civil liberties, privacy rights, and physical safety. Sign the petition: Defund Flock.
