	"description": "Temporary Protected Status, or TPS, is a protection from removal afforded to people whose countries of origin have endured natural disasters, civil strife, and the like. Over a million people from 17 countries currently benefit from this program. It has undoubtedly saved countless lives. Today, the Supreme Court has undermined this program and stolen safety from thousands. We are disappointed but not surprised by the cowardice of a majority of the Supreme Court justices. The choice to hide behind ‘judicial reviewability’ comes at an unacceptably steep cost to hundreds of thousands of Haitian- and Syrian-Americans and their families and communities. It has also paved the way for the Trump Administration to terminate other TPS designations, leaving over one million people from fifteen other countries in a terrifying state of uncertainty. We encourage our members, New Yorkers, and all people of conscience to reject and condemn this blatant xenophobia.",
