"description": "5,000 people dead. 1.2 million displaced. And your tax dollars and military are directly involved in this war. Israel's invasion of Lebanon has killed more than 5,000 people, displaced over 1.2 million – a fifth of the country's entire population – and caused over $14 billion in destruction. Hospitals bombed. Entire villages erased. Israeli Defense Minister Katz has said explicitly that Lebanon's south will be treated like Gaza: total destruction, permanent occupation, civilians told they cannot return. According to credible reports from Israeli sources cited in a memo from Rep. Tlaib's office, the U.S. and President Trump are violating the War Powers Act by personally approving and rejecting specific Israeli military operations in Lebanon, and U.S. forces have been sharing intelligence used in military attacks and coordinating with the Israeli military throughout their war effort. Rep. Rashida Tlaib is forcing a vote to end U.S. participation in the Israeli war and occupation in Lebanon. Make sure your Rep. is on the right side of it. Rashida Tlaib’s resolution would end unauthorized U.S. military participation within 7 days — which would mean ending intelligence sharing and coordination for offensive Israeli military actions in Lebanon — and is the only legislative tool that can force a vote and thus every member of Congress to take a position about this war on the record. Even during the supposed “ceasefire” in Lebanon, Israeli attacks continue to kill dozens across southern Lebanon as Israel continues its campaign to make the south resemble a second Gaza, permanently demolishing ancient villages to create a “buffer zone” with U.S. military command and coordination. Congress must act before the U.S. enables further bloodshed and displacement, and Rep. Tlaib’s War Powers Resolution is the best way to do it. President Trump and Secretary Marco Rubio have boasted about their intent to hold “historic” talks between Israel and Lebanon — but as the U.S. directly enables Israel’s invasion and ceasefire violations and push Lebanon to submit to harsh demands and civil strife to end the conflict, this less resembles a peace initiative than it does war by other means. Congress must put a stop to this charade. The Congresswoman has put Congress on notice that she will call the vote on this resolution the first week of June. Tell your member of Congress: Vote YES and end U.S. participation in the war in Lebanon!",
