"description": "On October 6, the Arkansas Legislative Council and Joint Budget Committee will begin holding budget hearings to make future budget decisions that will affect every single Arkansan. One of those budget decisions will impact the future of SNAP in our state. Beginning October 1, the state budget will face a shortfall of $18 million in federal SNAP administrative funds we have lost thanks to the One Big Beautiful Bill Act. This amount will increase to about $24 million annually thereafter. SNAP helps thousands of Arkansans put food on the table, and SNAP dollars support local grocery stores, farmers, and truckers. If the legislature doesn't commit to investing state dollars to sustain the administration of SNAP, the future of SNAP will be at risk in Arkansas. Arkansas is the hungriest state in the nation. We can't afford to lose SNAP. Write your legislators right now and let them know you don't want your community to go hungry.",
