"description": "Ask nearly any working parent in America today and they'll tell you: Quality, affordable childcare is hard to find—and it's getting even harder. In 2022, American families were paying, on average, as much as $17,000 per child each year in childcare costs. And many families found themselves priced out of the market entirely, forcing one parent to forfeit their career and drop out of the workforce. But even as families have struggled to stay afloat and millions of parents—especially moms—have been forced out of the labor force entirely, elected leaders in congress have done very little to increase public funding for childcare subsidies, leaving American families to shoulder the burden of our country's childcare crisis. It's time for that to change.",
