"description": "Did you know that Schroders have £220,000,000 invested in Drax world's largest tree burner? On 26th April, Drax will be hosting it's Annual General Meeting (AGM) between it's board of directors and shareholders. In addition to this, Drax receives £2 million every day at the expense of billpayers, allocated to them by the UK government. They will be celebrating record profits of £731 million, which is facilitated by Schroder's investment. Ordinary people are struggling with the cost of living whilst Drax profits from climate chaos. Schroders already know that Drax's practices are not sustainable. This is evident in their public letter to the UK Parliament's Environmental Audit Committee, in which they requested a commitment from the firm not to pursue more category 2 licenses in Canada, which permits access to forest timber. This is the tip of the iceberg. Wherever Drax goes, harm follows. As the UK's biggest carbon emitter, their legacy is one of climate disasters across the world. They also perpetrate environmental racism: inflicting pellet mill poison on nearby communities to the point where the smog is so thick that they cannot leave their homes and many are forced to rely on machines and medication after developing breathing problems.
