After the State Senate today passed a compromise budget (to which House leadership and the Governor have previously agreed), there is unrest among some rank and file House members. Funding for our public schools is on the line for this year and for years to come! Our lawmakers need to hear from us! Email your Representatives in the PA House and tell them to support schools and programs that people need. Remind them of the following priorities: - A budget must restore education funding to 2010 levels before the implementation of a funding formula. - Ill-advised pieces of school reform legislation have no place in our great state. Any variation of SB 6 (the additional state-takeover bill) is not good for children, educators, or families. - Pension reform will only hurt working-people without truly addressing the unfunded liability that currently exists. The budget should not be balanced on the backs of working people. Our lawmakers need to hear from us!
