In Minneapolis, federal immigration agents shot and killed 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti during an enforcement operation. Weeks earlier, Renee Good was killed by immigration officers in the same city. These killings are part of a broader pattern of unchecked violence as immigration enforcement expands into U.S. neighborhoods. Inside ICE detention facilities, people are dying at record rates. More than 30 people died in ICE custody last year, the highest total in over two decades and nearly the deadliest year on record. Medical neglect, overcrowding, and privatized detention are killing people. Despite this, Republicans are pushing to hand ICE billions more through the DHS budget. Last year’s funding surge already expanded detention and enforcement. This year’s proposal would lock in even more violence, with no meaningful accountability. The Senate does not have to go along with this. Lawmakers can keep the government open while voting NO on DHS/ICE funding. Separating the votes is the first step. Tell your senators to vote NO on any DHS or ICE funding bill and stop enabling deadly enforcement.",
