"description": "Jeff Bezos is the 4th richest person in the world. The Washington Post is owned by him. And right now, The Post is trying to force out 76 members of the Washington Post Tech Guild through layoffs that violate the basic protections of labor law. We are in status quo — a legally protected period as we bargain towards our first union contract — and cannot be legally laid off. Instead of following the law, senior management is pressuring the Tech Guild members to accept defeat, take a weak severance package and leave quietly. They are attempting to break the union and spirit of each and every one of our members. This is not generosity. It’s a bribe. On Monday, February 10, 2026, Tech Guild members worked a normal day in the office, attending meetings, publishing code, presenting designs, and checking in with managers. That evening, after work hours, members being targeted for layoffs received an email from CTO Vineet Khosla that they would be locked out of the building and work programs immediately. This escalation came as a surprise, only serving to further degrade communication with our colleagues in our workplace. If you value The Post and care about its future, we ask that you join us in our call to #SaveThePost by sending the following note to Post owner Jeff Bezos, Publisher and CEO Jeff D’Onofrio, Chief Technology Officer Vineet Khosla and Arc XP President Matt Monahan. Thank you for your support.",
